Structured Literacy for the Dyslexic Scholar

Odyssey Dyslexia Services, Inc.

Advocacy- The purpose is to make available advocacy services that support parents in partnering with the school as a dynamic member of the educational planning team for their child.

Dyslexia Screening- At this time, Odyssey Dyslexia Services, does NOT provide formal testing and evaluations for the diagnosis of dyslexia. Referrals will be provided upon request to parents who seek a Comprehensive Individualized Assessment for their child. However, ODS does provide Dyslexia screenings.  These screenings assess phonological awareness, phonics and decoding skills, vocabulary (oral and reading), reading (accuracy, fluency and comprehension), spelling and writing. The purpose of these informal assessments or “screenings” is to determine if your child would benefit from an evidence-based, systematic, explicit phonics program for literacy intervention.

Dyslexia Tutoring- Dyslexia ranges from mild to severe. Tutoring sessions are based on student and family needs. One hour sessions available from two to five times weekly. Progress monitoring is provided to determine student progress. Tutor will communicate with parent(s) and school staff regarding student progress.
